Refashioned Bags-GARGO CARRYALL bag

We will need

One pair of cargo pants

One  scrap stetch fabric – polyester jersey top from the 70s

Pins

Let’s start the job

Cut the cargo pants across the legs use under the fly and just above the knee in front and back.  The length of the pieces with the pockets should be 35cm.

Take the pieces with pockets and cut up the inner thigh seams to make 2 rectangular pieces, each with a large cargo pocket.  Trim the sides so the rectangles are even in size.

Sew the ends of the rectangles together with a clean finish, creating a tube.

Cut a piece from the scrap fabric that is the same circumference as the tube and 12 cm wide.  Hem one long edge of the scrap fabric.  Sewing the short ends together, creating another tube.  Turn the bag inside out.  Sew the unhemmed edge of the fabric tube to the top edge to the cargo pants tube.

Cutting around the zipper, cut a piece from the pants that 12cm.  Then cut out 2 rectangular pieces from the back bottom of the pants, including the cuffs, each 15x23cm.

Push the scrap fabric tube at the top of the bag into the bag itself, so that it becomes a lining around the top rim of the bag.  In at least 4 places at the bottom of the lining, tack the fabric with hand-stitches to the inside of the bag to secure it.

Sew the two long strips on top of each other with a clean finish to create a long thin, tube.  After turning the tube, iron it flat and top stitch the 2 long sides to flatten the tube complete. Place the strip through the two loops on the front piece, and sew the short ends of the strip together to create a large handle.
