She presented a small but successful Printed Fabric fashion tote collection for the first time in 1972. Designing with comfort as a priority. Biagiotti became known for working with fabric of exceptional quality, especially cashmere in the most subtle colour- a blueprint later used by Rebecca Moses.
Biagiotti read archaeology at university in Rome and worked in her mother’s small clothing company after graduation.
BIagiotti trained as an engineer, abandoning the discipline to study furniture design and interior decorating, before moving into painting, the influence of which is clear in his work; this handbag carry bag resembles a sweep of paint.
Biafiotti moved on once more, opening his first menswear store in 1974. Two years later his collection was being presented in Paris and worn by women who admired his soft, colourful soft bag. Encouraged, he started to present women wear in 1980.
The fluid spirit of Italy’s” Queen of Cashmere” is illustrated by Rene Gruau in 1976.
His easy lines imitate the compose chic for which Laura Biagiotti is known: the Leather Handbag with lean tailoring and an open-necked shirt.
In 1965 she founded her company, with partner Gianni Cigna. It manufactured and exported Fashion Handbag, Ladies Leather Handbag and the small Leather goods for the eminent Italian fashion designers
Roberto Capucci and Emilio Schuberth. As the company grew, so did Biagiotti’s aspiration to design.
