A graduate in Japanese literature, Mori went back to college after her marriage and two sons to learn the fundamentals of dressmaking.
She designed costumes for Japanese film and theatre, before setting up shop at Tokyo’s shopping haven Ginza in 1955. She was admitted to Paris’s Chambre Syndicale de la Couture in 1977.
