A prominent designer in the Italian fashion scene of the 1980s, Venturi based his women’s ready to wear label on sensuous, masculine tailoring. His dynamic, swingy designs reflected the elevated classic evening handbag look of the time and had a distinctive Milanese feel in their artistic minimalism and architectural fluidity. Venturi was not formally trained in design; instead he majored in business and economics at the University of Florence. He then spent many years travelling, embracing rich artistic and cultural Zeitgeists, before working as a fashion handbag designer/stylist. He was quickly noted for his classic, tactile separates in earthbound colors. He launched his own collection in 1979, favouring the bold, feminine look of a modern Louise Brooks dressed in a black snakeskin jacket, animal printed capri trousers and dark aviator glasses. He entered the millennium with three boutique in Japan and more than ten franchised fashion sales outlets in New York.
