The intelligence behind the label Prada belongs entirely to Miuccia Prada.
Inheriting her grandfather’s lather luggage business in the 1970s, Prada revamped the label by introducing innovative fabrics and design, pioneering the lightweight nylon backpack embraced by the fashion cognoscenti and legion counterfeiters.
Focusing on freedom of definition, rather than sex appeal, Prada’s experimentation with 1970s furnishing fabrics heralded the 1996 geek chic look.
She has commented, I never dress according to how beautiful I look, but always on my imagination.
Prada developed l line that is brave in spirit, controversial and desired above almost any other label. In 2004, she was awarded the Council of Fashion Designers of America International Sward.
In 2012 she was celebrated at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibit Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.
